I've been trying not to blog except on the weekends but it's no use, I'm addicted. So this 9-11am liberal talk show person on the local "Big One" in my little area gets this caller this morning. The topic apparently has something to do with intercourse and young children or children under 15. I was always taught to wait until you got married. And then somehow that got twisted by the younger parents into "at least wait until you are of legal age 18 and for crying out loud use protection". Well some waited and some didn't. But the radio show host is exploring the morals of a state who's sexual intercourse age limit is 15 years of age. This truely bothers me because if you use common sense then we should be teaching abstinence. Since this radio show is liberal I guess that means it's ok to consider children having sex from the age of 15 okay. This caller asks the host where will children get information about sexual intercourse if their parents don't have (and get this) an open dialogue with their children when it comes to personal issues. The show's host offers no advice to the caller for this question. I of course am here to save the day. I have the answer to the callers question and some advice for the radio show host (who coincidentally had a TV show and knows the power of the media). For the caller I offer this advice - teach the children to watch television, it will be their greatest source of information and education. Teach the children not to ask their parents and teachers for information but to look to their peers for guidance. Since the children don't have an "open dialogue" with their parent(s) they already have been taught to desensitize themselves from the right and wrong feelings that we all inherintly have. Better yet teach the children to get their information and guidance with respect to morals from night time talk shows on television. The parents obviously have no control over their children so since the children will be up watching television, why not have them get their much needed guidance by talk televsion. And Jerry - maybe you ought to consider using your gift to HELP these children instead of putting the freaks on a pedestal.
