Here is my take on the whole thing with kids and protection in school. When I went to school no one even thought about bringing a gun to school. Some of us carried pocket knives, but they were tools and not weapons. Still carry a pocket knife for a tool and I expect my son will do the same since we all have as far back as anyone can remember.
Over the past several months there has been a noteable amount of "child takes gun to school" cases. Now if you think back over the past 10 years you'll see that years ago there were stories of rampant sex in school and now the media preaches safe sex as opposed to abstaining from the act altogether.
Let's whip out the old social calculator shall we? In my lifetime schools went from no guns and no sex to free condoms and kids taking guns to school everyday. Just within the past 10 years unforgiveable acts are now encouraged by the availability of condoms. What's next? Passing out kevlar and body armor????
