Aha yes. The thrill of victory. What would it be like, to wake up one morning and not have a single worry? It seems to me that we as a nation have developed a new way of thinking about making a living. I remember as a kid hearing the saying "old money" and thinking "why would anyone want old money?". As I made my way through school I learned that with "old money" came things like prestige, privileges, sometimes respect, and usually that nasty old human trait envy. I was lucky and got to grow up in an environment with some extras but certainly not the "old money" family that I heard of while learning the ways of the world. As I make my way through the book I see that I really have learned very little. I still think, that the only way to make a difference in life is not to put the dollar in front of the job, but to put the job in front of everything else. Not life, not family, but that ever elusive dollar. If one puts too much emphasis on what they get out of it...like the "what's in it for me" saying, sight of the purpose is lost. I do not know one successful person that sat down with life's gameplan and said "I will make a plan that will make me wealthy". A most truly successful person might be measured on the success they have created. Mr Big in NY isn't there because he is successful, he is there because he has created success. Although many view him as a vain, self-centered egotistical monster they cannot argue with his success....His track record, and his drive to be the best. I agree with some points but also respect his ability to create success. Everyone I know that has been successful in life is still working or has passed away. This to me means several things. 1. You don't get rich overnight. 2. Rich people don't retire. 3. Retired people aren't rich. 2. Being rich does not mean you are successful. 4. Being successful doesn't happen trying to get rich. So to me that means that ones success isn't measured by their wealth and riches but by the successes they create in life, by those they have helped and the hearts they touch. Now comes the media machine!!!!! YEAH LET'S GRIPE ABOUT THE MEDIA YYYYAAAAAAAA!!! Ya know I could type all day when it comes to bitching about the machine, but the pain in my wrists from what I guess is probably the beginning of a nice case of CTS is getting so bad I must give you the readers digest version for now. Why are we taking people off of the streets and making them millionaires? Why is the machine making television shows designed to spoof someone into thinking you are someone you are not? Does anyone see the "mis-influence" of the media???? Once again the machine is attempting to take over the future of this country and make them into sniveling, groveling, lazy, fat, bloated, wanna-bees without the drive nor the desire to earn a living the old fashioned way...To earn it!
